September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month - 09/06/2007

On September 6, Rep. Koutoujian joined the Massachusetts Ovarian Cancer Awareness Coalition at Boston's City Hall Plaza to recognize September as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

According to the Coalition,t is estimated that this year more than 16,000 women will die in the United States from ovarian cancer. Many women don't seek help until the disease has begun to spread, but if detected at its earliest stage, the 5 year survival rate is more than 93%. Recent research suggests that together the 4 symptoms of bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, difficulty eating or feeling full quickly and urinary urgency or frequency may be associated with ovarian cancer.
