Boston University School of Public Health dean briefs elected officials and staff

Boston –Rep. Peter Koutoujian (D-Waltham) joined colleagues today in order to be briefed about pandemic flu preparedness and how legislators can help their districts and communities in the event of and pandemic. Koutoujian, House Chairman of the Joint Committee on Public Health, and Harold Cox, Associate Dean for Public Health Practice at Boston University School of Public Health, led a closed door discussion with members and staff on the subject.
“Pandemic flu affecting our communities is inevitable; we shouldn’t be planning for ‘if’, but ‘when’,” said Koutoujian.  “As Chairman of the Public Health Committee I’m glad to have this briefing as part of my Public Health 101 series to help legislators educate and prepare their constituents.  We’re fortunate to have an expert like Dean Harold Cox to bring us all up to speed.”
