Joint Committee on Public Health to hold local public health effectiveness oversight hearing - 10/17/2006
BOSTON - State Rep. Peter Koutoujian and state Sen. Susan Fargo, co-chairpersons of the Joint Committee on Public Health, today announced the committee will hold a special oversight hearing on Local Public Health Effectiveness on Tuesday, October 17 at 10 a.m. at the State House in Hearing Room A-1.
Expert testifiers have been invited to explore local public health issues related to the regionalization of public health infrastructures memorandums of understanding, emergency preparedness, and other issues that may be impacting the effectiveness of our local health departments.

Paul Cote, Commissioner, Massachusetts Department of Public Health
Pat Libbey, Executive Director, National Association of County and City Health Officials
Harold Cox, Associate Dean for Practice, Boston University School of Public Health
Sharon Mastenbrook, President, Massachusetts Health Officers Association
Representatives from the Coalition for Local Public Health
